Our History
CornerStone United’s headquarters in Hickory, NC is located within the historic 32,000 sqft Piedmont Wagon building. Working with the National Park Service and the North Carolina State Historic Preservation office, CornerStone performed a total rehabilitation of the historic building. The Piedmont Wagon Company was Hickory’s first major industry and a key to the town’s growth from 1880 to the 1920’s. They produced a successful variety of horse drawn wagons – the vehicle manufacturer of its time and fitting for the protection products that are administrated from that same building today. The building rehabilitation dramatically repurposed the building from warehouse to office space. Cornerstone designed the new space to best fit the solutions to benefit not only CornerStone operations but also the support of its international dealers, manufacturers, agents and customers.
